Landing Doors & Interlocks

All private residence elevators have doors at each landing to allow safe entry and exit from the elevator car and to secure the hoistway when the elevator car is not present. Each door must be equipped with an electro-mechanical locking device known as an “interlock”. In addition, each door is required to be capable of withstanding certain “pushing” or “pulling” forces to ensure that the door cannot be forced open unless the “interlock” has been released. Interlocks are the most important safety feature of your elevator.
