Every car gate in a residential elevator MUST be equipped with a car gate switch that will verify to the elevator controller that the car gate is in its fully closed position. The elevator MUST NOT move unless the car gate is fully closed and the car gate switch has been properly activated. If the elevator can move with the car gate open DO NOT USE THE ELEVATOR and call your service company immediately. The Car Gate Switch is a Life Saving Device. Never tamper with or try to bypass the car gate switch. Doing so can lead to serious injury or death. |
